GRIPSTONE CLASSES
Can be scheduled weekdays (Please schedule at least 1 week or more in advance)
*Gripstone classes are for personal use only and DO NOT qualify or certify
the participant to instruct, coach or guide others.
INTRO TO CLIMBING FOR KIDS
- Ages 12 -13
- Class is intended to familiarize youth between 12 and 14 years of age with safe use of the Gripstone bouldering and auto belay equipment.
- Climbing orientation, Auto-belay and bouldering only certification
- Must pass class for certification
- Once certified, climbers can boulder and clip THEMSELVES ONLY into auto belay systems
- No use of top rope belay systems
- Cost: $39
TOP-ROPE CERTIFICATION
- Ages 14 and up
- Top-rope climbing using the P.B.U.S technique with the Gri Gri belay device
- Climbers are certified upon passing this class with the intent of safe top-rope climbing at the Gripstone Facility
- This certification is required to use the top rope systems at Gripstone
- Cost: $15 with purchase of full price day pass or membership
BASIC LEAD AND LEAD BELAY CLASS
- Ages 14 and up
- Approx. 3 hours of instruction time
- Climber must be previously top-rope belay certified
- Climber must be able to comfortably climb a Gripstone 5.9 or harder
- Class covers the basics of indoor lead climbing
- Emphasis on safety and gear management
- Must pass class for Gripstone certification
- Cost: $119 per person for 2 to 4 people (single person class cost $140)
BASIC MOVEMENT AND TECHNIQUE CLASS
- All ages
- 1 hour of instruction time
- Introduction to climbing movement
- Cost: $75
PRIVATE LESSONS
- Private classes with certified Gripstone Instructor -Training techniques, strength, endurance, climbing movement and more
- Cost: $85 per hour
PRIVATE LESSONS WITH TONY YANIRO
- Private lessons tailored to fit your needs
- Cost: $100.00 per hour for members and non-members

INDOORS TO THE OUTDOORS
OUTDOOR ADVENTURE PART I
– Recommended prerequisite for the Outdoor adventure part II
- Indoor setting for learning important rope work for safe outdoor climbing on basic sport climbs. Class will better prepare the climber for the Outdoor adventure (Part II)
- 1 ½ hours of instruction time
- Cost: $115 (Requires a minimum of 2 persons registered to hold class. Advanced reservation required)
OUTDOOR ADVENTURE PART II
- Guided outdoor educational climbing adventure intended to introduce new outdoor climbers to the crags with expert supervision.
- Climbers will see and experience basic sport climbing, anchor set-up, safe outdoor ropework and the mechanics of sport leading
- Class will be tailored to experience level
- Class will run approx. 6 hours and will take place at the most appropriate climbing area of the season.
- Cost: $305 for one person. Each person thereafter: add $150 per person
OUTDOOR ADVENTURE III
– Outdoor Adventure part II recommended as a prerequisite
- Inquire at Gripstone for current details of curriculum (can be modified based on need, interest and experience level)
- Advanced outdoor climbing skills covered including traditional rock climbing and natural protection leading.
